The suggested preferred browser for all platforms is Firefox (download).

Whilst we make efforts to ensure that the GUDMAP web-application remains robust, we cannot guarantee that all features will work as intended across all platforms, operating systems and browsers.

The site is regularly tested on both Mac and Linux using Firefox, and considered stable

* Javascript must be enabled on your browser for this site to function correctly.

* Viewing Multimedia content

Some multimedia content on the site is embedded in Flash applications within the page. Most browsers now support the flash player which will render these applications on your browser. If your browser does not have flash player installed, when you visit a page with flash content you will automatically be offered a link to download the flash player and install it as a plugin to your browser. The process is quite simple and safe.

* Note for Vista users.

Guests using Microsoft Vista may find they cannot view the multimedia content even after they have downloaded the flash player. This is due to the fact that Vista requires an administrator to activate the flash player.

There are 2 possible scenarios.

1. You visit a page such as 'The GUDMAP Home page' and you are presented with a link to download the latest flash player. You follow the instructions to download and install but still cannot view the slideshow.
2. You visit a page such as 'The GUDMAP Home page' and you cannot see the slideshow and you are not prompted to download the latest flash player.

To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

For Vista (64 bit):

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.
